Gift Store

Time-honored tools for expanding the mind and indulging creativity have always included both books and art. At 7300 square feet, this planet-sized bookstore has literally tons of books: “It doesn’t matter if you’re not into books- whatever you are into, we have something for you.” The great thing about having such a large bookstore is that there’s also lots of room for catering to appetites for visual indulgences via original art and mostly hand-made gifts and decor treasures. The store has a reputation for the interesting and the unusual. In addiction to the many varied gift items, customers can peruse original paintings in a variety of media, as well as clay and bronze sculpture.

Patty Taney, co-owner of Bookman Huntington started traveling to art fairs and events all over America to find the right artwork and handmade gift items to complement the books in the store. She has gone beyond the typically artsy eclectic-and-unusual look, and into the realm of the unique and rare. Maybe one percent of exhibitors at fairs she visits, even those in New York City, make items she considers suitable in uniqueness and quality workmanship. As a result, she ends up with items so attractively unusual that customers want to know all about them- where they came from, who made them, and why.

Shrouded in the middle of hundreds of years of literature representing a tremendous amount of world knowledge is a unique gift store and contemporary art gallery.
